Michael Bain
Principal
At Wellesley, we are proud to nurture resilient, curious, and motivated boys who are supported to grow academically, socially, and creatively. Our dedicated staff, supportive families, and enthusiastic students together create a vibrant community where every boy is encouraged to take risks, embrace challenges, and develop their unique talents.
Our school offers a wide range of opportunities, from sports, STEM and arts to leadership programs and community events, all designed to inspire growth and confidence. We welcome prospective families to explore Wellesley through visits and Open Days.

Working at Wellesley means joining a passionate community in a stunning setting between bush and sea at Days Bay.
We value curiosity, creativity and genuine care. Our well-resourced environment celebrates both tradition and innovation. Whether you are an experienced educator, specialist teacher, or support staff member, you will find dedicated colleagues genuinely excited about shaping young lives. At Wellesley your contribution matters and you will make a meaningful difference every day.
We also value relief teachers as essential members of our community. Contact our Deputy Principal for opportunities.
The Wellesley Board of Trustees serves as the school’s governing body, appointed by the Diocese of Wellington for terms of up to five years. Meeting eight times annually, the Board ensures strong governance across all aspects of school life – from finance and property to safety and strategic planning.
Our trustees bring diverse expertise and perspectives, working alongside the Principal and key members of the school community. This collaborative approach ensures decisions are grounded in both governance best practice and the daily reality of school life.
We welcome interest from parents who would like to contribute to Wellesley’s future. If you are keen to learn more about Board service or have skills that could strengthen our governance, please email chair@wellesley.school.nz.
