Wellesley College Hall set up for an art exhibition, with artworks displayed and visitors viewing them

Art Week | Create for a Cause

A highlight in the School’s creative calendar is the Create for a Cause Art Exhibition and Art week. This year we welcomed award winning artist and illustrator Dean Proudfoot, as our Artist in Residence. Together we all created artworks inspired by the theme of “Ko au te whenua, ko te whenua ko au – i raro i te rangi kotahi”I am the land, and the land is me – under the same sky.

Students and teachers emersed themselves in the creative process exploring their relationship with the world around them. Mosaics, painting, mixed media, collage, weaving and even hanging mobiles were created showing creativity in interpretation of the theme.

A wonderful evening exhibition displayed the boy’s art alongside the works created by Dean, with student artwork sold supporting the Mental Health Foundation and Dean’s supporting the Foundations Promising Futures for Boys Campaign.
